Went in after a recommendation from a friend. Grayson took great care of me. He was efficient and friendly. He gave me great tips on how to keep my hair looking it's best between cuts!

I've been seeing Jon for my haircuts for almost 6 years now. Every single time, his cuts have been perfect and exactly what I've asked for, if not better. He'll be honest with you and if you like fades/tapers, no one does it better. Could not recommend him more, especially if you have Asian texture hair. Stop thinking about it and just book!

I went in with my husband while he got a cut and a shave. This shop is the best!
It is clean, great aesthetic and has a comfortable vibe.
Grayson did a great job, I would highly recommend him.

Never before have I experienced a barber with the level of skill and attention to detail that Jon shows. Even asking for a pretty normal haircut, Jon made sure every detail looked perfect from every angle. Add to that the clean, relaxing space and I'm definitely going to be coming back whenever my hair needs it.

The best barber I've ever had!
Most barbers I've gone to know how to get my sides right but can never do the top of my hair justice like a hairstylist would. Jon is extremely versatile and knows how to give you a topnotch fade while also using shears to give your length on top life! He is the perfect blend of barber & stylist. Also the vibe of the shop is super cool. KTLA or basketball on the TV, just how I like it. ;)

By far the best barbershop in downtown LA (Arts District).

Pros: cool ambiance. Great cuts delivered every time. Great prices for the quality of the cut.
Cons: Far to me now since I moved. LoL But still worth the drive.

Conclusion: Jon is a dope barber. His spot is clean and makes it a great experience too.

John is very attentive and on point with great attention to detail. Haircut, taper, beard and lineup . It's hard to find a solid barber, glad I found these guys. Highly recommend checking them out.

I found Grit just looking for barbers on Yelp located in DTLA and have stuck with Jon since. First off I just moved here from Nor Cal and haven't had a good experience looking for a new barber. After a few bad experiences I was glad to have found Jon and his dope spot. He takes his time cutting and is very chill always does his best to make sure your cut is on point. Very humble guy and makes the experience very welcoming. I was very scared/nervous after being let down by local barbers in Downtown LA after my first visit he earned me as a loyal customer and will always look to Jon anytime I need a cut in DTLA. Give him a shot and you won't be let down.

Jon is excellent. As other reviewers mentioned, he takes the time to understand what you're looking for in a haircut and is meticulous in his process. I was very satisfied with the cut and the experience (the hot towels/oils were a welcomed plus). Highly recommend him if you're on the fence. It was an absolute delight to be in his chair.

This place is great! Jonn is a really chill barber with a lot of experience knowing how to work with the client. I've been going to him probably for about a year now after having gone to a Korean salon (hard to find people who know how to cut Asian hair y'know?) I was told that my hair doesn't do well with short cuts or fades, but that's clearly not the case after coming here.

The easy online scheduling; the hot towel, shave, and styling service; and simple card payment is all a winning situation. Great guy, easy conversation, and overall ambient vibe makes this place my go to always.

My boyfriend absolutely loves getting his hair cut by Jon! It goes without saying that I do too! We live in the ​Art District so his Barker Block location is perfect! Jon's attention to detail is spot on! I highly recommend all hair types (thick hair, thin hair, long, short or faded) give him a try - I say that because my boyfriend doesn't get fades although I see he's really great w/ them. It's a really nice feeling knowing you can count on consistently awesome hair!

Jon is a great guy, and an even better barber. He takes the time to hear you out to make sure you're satisfied with the cut. Parking can be a little bit of an issue, but you shouldn't have a problem most of the time. He even offers a complimentary beer once you get settled!

Only gripe with Jon has nothing to do with his profession, he's a Clippers fan...

All jokes aside, if you want a great haircut from a cool dude, try GRIT.

Best haircut in a very long time!! I apologize for not writing this review sooner because what I have on my head is one of the best (if not the best) haircuts I've ever had...and it's been a month!! It has held its shape! My wife continues to say how great my hair looks (it is extremely important to keep the wifey happy), and it's easy to manage. Just wash comb and go!! Jon is a true professional with an eye for detail. His shop is clean neat & tidy. I scheduled the appointment online!! How cool is that?? Jon even offered me a beer!! Next time I'll take him up on that one. If you want to look good, look smart and keep your Lady/ies happy (I have one, only one!!) then Jon is your go-to hair man!! Thanks Jon! You're awesome!! And my hair still looks great!!

This dude is the best! Really gives the haircut you ask for, listens to everything you have to say, is very detail orientated. The one on one in his shop is amazing. It feels good to get a haircut from a real barber. One of the only ones left. You couldn't picture a better place to get your haircut. In the loft good music, game is on, cold beer in your hand. Super cool dude all around doing his thing.

Living in downtown I really have A lot of options when it comes to getting a haircut. After my experience with Jon I feel like I found the best one. I have had my haircut with him twice now and will never go anywhere else.

Jon is the shit-- booked my appointment on a whim as I've been desperately trying to find a good barber since moving back to LA. My search is over!

Jon works out of his live/work loft and has an awesome set up and the right vibe. He is a dedicated professional and is a king in his craft. He offers hot towel service and pays really close attention to styling and cutting your hair the right way.

Definitely recommend him. Will be back!

Jon is great. I work 2 blocks away and was looking for a convenient place to get a good haircut. The overall vibe is great he is easy to talk to, shop is clean, and most importantly he spends time making sure it is cut exactly how you want it. I always walk out feeling like the attention to detail was the same every time. I never feel like he is just trying to get you in and out. I've been going to Grit for about 3 months and now there are ~4 other people from my office who go. Definitely has the local barber feel.

Jon has cut my hair for close to two years now, and he's been on point every time. He's an amazing barber with incredible attention to detail and his shop is super clean and welcoming. I was introduced to Jon by my buddy who would only get his hair cut by him, even when he moved up North to SJ. Jon is the man and is extremely personable. He also knows how to give a great cut.

I often cut my own hair so I haven't gone to a barber shop for a while.
Tonight, I decided to go with a pro and booked an appointment with Grayson. He was wonderful. Professional and efficient but in a very friendly, easy going way. He took his time to understand what I wanted from the cut and the texture of my hair and was fun to chat with. I left with a solid haircut that I'm extremely happy with at a very reasonable price for the neighborhood and quality of experience.
Also want to mention that I actually got a couple of haircuts from Jon many years ago in the old location. It was also a great experience. So you really can't go wrong with this place.
